Running Scans
Trigger scans, understand your SEO and GEO scores, and review scan history.
What a scan checks
Every Align scan performs a comprehensive audit of your page. The following items are analyzed:
- Title tag — presence, length, and quality.
- Meta description — presence, length, and quality.
- Open Graph tags — og:title, og:description, and og:image.
- Canonical tag — whether a canonical URL is defined.
- H1 headings — count and content of H1 elements.
- Images — total count and alt text coverage.
- Word count — total visible words on the page.
- JSON-LD schemas — structured data detection and validation.
- llms.txt — presence of the AI-engine accessibility file.
- Robots.txt AI bot rules — whether AI crawlers like GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot are allowed or blocked.
- Topical authority — keyword coverage and content depth analysis.
- GEO score — your Generative Engine Optimization readiness rating.
How to run a scan
There are two ways to start a scan:
- Click the Run Scan button in the dashboard header. This scans the currently selected site.
- Click Run Full Scan in the Overview tab. This performs the same comprehensive scan and immediately displays results.
Both buttons trigger the same scan. Results appear in the dashboard as soon as the scan completes.
Reading results
Each scan produces an SEO score from 0 to 100, along with a letter grade. The grading scale and associated colors are:
- A (90 – 100) — excellent. Your page follows SEO best practices.
- B (80 – 89) — good. A few minor improvements are available.
- C (70 – 79) — fair. Several issues need attention.
- D (60 – 69) — poor. Significant issues are impacting your SEO.
- F (below 60) — critical. Major issues require immediate action.
The dashboard also breaks down individual checks so you can see exactly which items passed, which have warnings, and which failed.
Scan history
The left panel displays a chronological list of past scans for the selected site. Each entry shows the scan date and the resulting score.
Click any past scan to load its full results into the dashboard. This lets you compare how your page has improved (or regressed) over time.
Scan limits by plan
The number of scans you can run each month depends on your plan:
- Free — 1 scan per month.
- Pro — 20 scans per month.
- Agency — unlimited scans.
Scan counts reset on the first day of each billing cycle. See the Plans & Pricing page for full plan details.
